Students from CHICAT’s Youth Arts Programs exhibited photographs, video, armor, silkscreening, 3D prints, and VR at the Fall 2018 showcase. Families and friends came by to see the student work and celebrate. The Youth Art Team and student artists were on hand to talk about their work and all the new art & technology skills learned in CHICAT’s three studios. Highlights included a murder mystery-themed digital photo series and video made in the Digital Arts studio, as well as costumes and silk screen shirts made in the Design Arts Studio. Oculus VR headsets programmed in the 3D Maker Lab were on hand at the showcase exhibition to show 360 degree footage of the silkscreening process.
Congratulations to the students and all who make the Youth Arts Program at CHICAT a success! Look for more information soon to sign up middle schoolers and high schoolers for the Spring 2019 classes (all free!), which begin mid-February!

2018 has been an exciting year of change and accomplishments for CHICAT! Included in our momentum:
- Adult Education students in the high-demand fields of Maintenance Mechanics, Food Lab/Quality Control and Health Information Technology graduated with industry standard certifications
- We served nearly 400 youth from Pilsen, North Lawndale and Little Village in our Youth Arts Education Programs
- We opened the doors of our beautiful space to host a number of corporate, private, and community partner meetings and events.
In 2019, and beyond, we will continue with our mission to elevate the talent present in the community by providing innovative arts and technology programs, industry-driven career training, and an inspiring space to unify the neighborhoods we serve. In our state-of-the-art maker lab, we’ve seen future engineers and designers awakened. In our digital arts studios, we’ve brought to life important storytellers who will give voice to their communities. In our adult training classrooms, we’ve unlocked amazing potential in our adult students who were looking for the right opportunity to find a life-changing career.
